10 Best Desserts in Chicago
I’ve been blessed and cursed with a sweet tooth, so it’s hard for me to go a while without consuming some sort of treat or dessert. It almost feels like a journey to discover the best desserts in Chicago when there are so many options available! Fortunately, I’ve already done enough exploring to curate this list.
The following list consists of desserts that I love in Chicago and are worth checking out!
La Michoacana Premium
Get Mangoneada with Tamarind and Mango. I loved this dessert so much, especially having grown up in a Hispanic neighborhood in my early childhood years. Tamarind and mango creates a fiery combo, and I love the chunks of mango added. [Website] – Pilsen
Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams
Get Dark Chocolate or Lavender ice cream flavor. The Dark Chocolate flavor is dairy-free, but you can’t even tell. It’s still rich and decadent! Lavender tastes really good as well. Did you know that you can get the following 3-scoop ice cream completely free on your birthday? You must go on your actual birthday though. [Website] – Various locations
Roka Akor
Get Warm Chocolate Cake. The chocolate cake comes with coffee ice cream, caramel sauce, caramelized peanuts. I love the warmness of the chocolate cake and coldness from the ice cream because the two worked so well together. Not only that, it was a gorgeous dessert, especially with the Roka Akor branding on the cake. [Website] – River North
Freezing Point
Get Cookies & Cream rolled ice cream. Rolled ice cream has become a trend, but this is the first time I’ve heard of a dessert place in Chicago with vegan options. For those who have a dairy allergy, this is perfect for you. Rolled ice cream is fun to watch and eat! [Website] – Lakeview
Kitty O’Sheas
Get the Irish Brownie Bread Pudding. It comes with coffee ice cream, caramel sauce, and candied pecan. I’m seriously hooked on this dessert. The warm bread pudding complemented the coffee ice cream, and the pecans added a nice crunch. Everything just worked, and you should try it! [Website] – South Loop
Hilary’s Cookies
Get the Chocolate Chip Cookie. I can’t believe this cookie is vegan, and you probably would feel the same way. The cookie is soft, chewy, and tasty. It has the perfect balance of sweetness and chocolate in it. [Facebook] – Lincoln Square
Artopolis
Get the Mango Yogurt Mousse or Hazelnut Praline. The desserts here are pretty solid even though the service is terrible sometimes. I recommend picking up the desserts to eat elsewhere if possible. The Mango Yogurt Mousse had the right amount of mango flavor while the Hazelnut Praline was rich and satisfying. [Website] – Greek Town
BAMBU
Get the #1 BAMBU special. It comes with fresh coconut, pandan jelly, longan, basil seed, and coconut water. I’ve lost track of how many times I ordered this in the past, and I’m still not sick of it! It’s a sweet drink that makes you eat different textured ingredients at the same time. [Website] – Uptown
26th Street Sugar Shack
Get the Funnel Cake Sundae. There is no other dessert place in Chicago that I know of that specializes in funnel cakes. I had this once and was hooked! There always is a line, and they’re not open during the winter. However, it’s worth the wait. The warm funnel cake and ice cream brings me back to carnival days. [Website] – Bridgeport
George’s Ice Cream & Sweets
Get Mint Chocolate or any ice cream flavor of your choosing. There are an abundance of flavors available for you to choose. I got the Mint Chocolate flavor one, and it was rich, creamy, and had me wanting more. It doesn’t matter if it’s winter, spring, summer, or fall, count me in for ice cream! [Website] – Andersonville
