Rise Up Nutrition Cafe – Chicago, IL
Rise Up Nutrition cafe is a non-profit organization in the Lakeview neighborhood of Chicago, which is managed by a friendly and awesome couple (Meera and Jay). A really adorable and chill dog also hangs out there, so it’s a dog-friendly cafe. Meera mentioned that the goal is to create an experience as opposed to just another cafe where you get drinks. It’s a very welcoming environment! Not only that, they try to be environmentally-friendly by serving customers drinks with reusable straws and glass mugs (unless you’re requesting take-out drink cups).
For $10, you pick two drinks (one being an energizing tea and the other being a shake). I tried the Oreo shake and Tag A Long shake, which were both absolutely delicious and rich in flavor. You can’t really tell that the Tag A Long shake is vegan, and it was inspired by the Girl Scouts cookie, Tagalongs.
As for the teas, I tried Chi Town tea, Margari-TEA tea, and Skittles tea. The Chi Town tea was the prettiest out of all three drinks because it had a red and blue color. It had a blue raspberry flavor that was quite refreshing. The Margari-TEA tasted like lemonade. Both drinks had B12 added. The Skittles tea was my favorite because it literally tasted like I had eaten a handful of Skittles!
It was a very positive experience overall, and I would certainly go back to try other teas and shakes!
